“Last April, I attended an event with my daughters who are ages 15 and 11 called Pure Beauty. From the moment we sat down at the table, I couldn’t hold in my tears. Neither could the girls.
Macie felt so anxious and nervous being on the young end of a crowd of teens she couldn’t hold back her tears of nervousness. Her anxiety was pegged. We cuddled and it soon passed as she felt so welcomed and included.
I shed tears of joy / sorrow / gratitude / unworthiness at how good our God is to place the three of us there for that day. A much needed day of rest for us.
In April, we were at a peak height of emotion with the divorce details and just ending Maya’s inpatient anorexia treatment and preparing for Jackson’s graduation and recent decision to move to Arizona. Life was on emotional overload.
Maya so very bravely listened and watched as the keynote speaker told her own story of battling eating disorder demons.
At the end, the girls were invited to declare a truth in their life. Maya went up on stage and shared this: “I am not defined by anorexia.” (or something close to those words. I’m not remembering exactly.)

My chest is tightening up as I remember the moments.
Young women mentors laid hands on and prayed over my daughters and I so fervently. It was one of those moments that you just stop time and feel the literal presence of the Holy Spirit acting all around you.
I was consumed with the need to help this brand, this small ministry that needed to reach MORE young girls and trusted that in His time, we could make that happen.
