This week we are jumping into the devotional in our magazine.
Psalm 42:1-5
1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng.
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
What do you currently need to pour out to God?
Did you take part in the Ice Bucket Challenge? Or have you ever drenched your favorite coach with Gatorade? When you hear “pouring out to God” what do you imagine?
The other day I caught myself sobbing on my bed, tangled in sheets, clenching my pillow and talking to Jesus. I was sharing confusion, worries, hopes and dreams with situations going on in life.
I planned on writing this post several weeks ago, so figuring out what “pouring out to God” looks like has been running in the back of my mind. There was a silent moment that day when I wiped my tears with my hoodie sleeve and I felt like he said, “This is it.”
Pouring out to God is choosing to be vulnerable with him. This particular day I needed to let go of the emotions bottled up and share my thoughts and feelings with Jesus.
As you slowly read this scripture, what do you need to pour out to God? Feel free to post your answers or private message our team on our FB page.
